    A lot of the early threads,i.e. BSF, BSW and BSC are no longer manufactured
    by the larger companies, so we have to have some of these made. Depending on quantity we can get them forged or bar turned. We usually keep good stocks of these threads. For the later threads, UNF + UNC, some of these are hard to get in high tensile and stainless so the same applies.

    BSF/BSC (Cycle) and BSW (Whitworth) fit most British motorcycles that were made up to the 1960s. During the 1960s all manufacturers started to change over to UNF/UNC. During the 1970s/early 1980s this then changed to metric to include metric fine as well as coarse

    The American motorcycles - Harleys, Indians, used UNF/UNC from the beginning.

    Please remember that we do have lots of items not listed in all threads and sizes, so ask.!

    Washers
    Most sizes of washers are available in £1 bags, this includes standard washers thick washers, spring washers and some penny washers. This works out cheaper for buying washers, especially if you require more than 10.

    BSF / BSW / BSC #02


    BSW / UNC - ?
    BSW is usually compatible with UNC, the only different one is 1/2", the rest are interchangeable. The only noticable difference between them is that the BSW have a slightly larger head size, (for the purist there is 5 degree difference in the pitch angle), which is not really significant.
    The threads per inch are the same (except for 1/2").
    Generally BSW and BSF was used on English cars and motorcycles until the 1960s, after that and on American cars and motorcycles UNC (coarse) tended to be used, in conjunction with UNF (fine).
    If you are uncertain of any threads you can mail them to me in a padded envelope and I will identify them for you, or just replace them with new for you.
